Commentary on ḥadīth 9:6 of the Levels of Apperceptions (Baṣā’ir al-Darajāt)
“…We and those who love Us have been created from a single clay, white and pure from the supreme celestial world (ʿilyīn). We have been created from its highest [level], and those who love us have been created from what is left of it [below it, i.e. from the remainder of the celestial clay]. And on the Day of Resurrection they [i.e. the true believers] shall be elevated from the lower [to the higher]; and on that Day of Resurrection We shall strike with our hands aspectual elements of Our Prophet, and our Shīʿa shall strike with their hands our aspectual elements, thereupon ye shall behold God [become one] with His prophet and the existential particles of light, and there ye shall behold those who love them and the existential particles of light [become one with Us]…” -- Baṣā’ir al-Darajāt (The Levels of Apperceptions), 9:6.

Praise be unto God, the Lord of the Worlds! And blessings and salutations be upon Muḥammad and His Family, the Pure; and curses be upon their enemies in entirety throughout all eternity! Amen!
Now then, it is narrated by the fifth Imām (upon Him be blessings and peace) that “We and those who love us have been created from a single clay...” The Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) and their true believers who love Them (upon Them be blessings and peace) have been created from a single clay because the essence of love (ḥubb) is the Primordial divine Light of singularity such that Beloved and the lover are here merely the active and the passive modes of a single reality. The Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) here stand as the Heaven (samā’) to the earth (arḍ) of the true believer. As such those who have loved the Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) have activated the divine reality of the Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) within themselves whereby the Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) truly live within them as if from pre-eternity (azalīya), since the essence of this love is atemporal (dahrī). The singularity of this clay is the universal matter issuing from the Pre-Existential World of the Particles of Light (āʿlam al-dharr) which is the realm of Jabarūt (the world of the empyrean of power, i.e. the realm of the archangelic-intellects). This primordial celestial clay of ʿilyun (the celestial world), which is the earth of the heaven of Jabarūt, is the divine Volition (irāda) unfolding from the station of the divine Will (mashī’a).
Since Love (ḥubb) is the act (fiʿl) of Light (nūr), and Light-in-itself is the undifferentiated singularity of the Pleroma of the Hiero-Intelligence/Nexal Consciousness (ʿaql); within the World of the Pre-Existential particles of Light, in its highest level, when the divine Will unfolds into its Voliton, the Heaven of the Universal Contemplator produces its universal substrate or matter, its clay, which is white and pure; and the object of its contemplation within this matter becomes that which loves and yearns for It as other than It, for “I was a Hidden Treasure and I desired to be known. Therefore I created creation in order to be known” (ḥadīth qudsī). Yet the reality of this clay in-itself is single such that to speak of the clay in any of its modes of differentiation, is to also to speak simultaneously of the celestial clay of universal matter in its undifferentiation. Yet the Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) as the Active Intelligences of this clay precede their true believers as the higher principle, because They (upon Them be blessings and peace) are the activity and the true believers are the passivity of this celestial universal matter, i.e. one acts and the other is acted upon.
At the Resurrection, the true believer will behold the reality of the Activity of his/her love (ḥubb) as being none other than the theophanic Self-Disclosure (tajallī) of the Infallibles Themselves (upon Them be blessings and peace) active within themselves, and this is one meaning of “they will turn higher from lower”; that is, They (upon Them be blessings and peace) will show them their (i.e. the true believers’) bodies of resurrection which is made from the substance of the singular clay of celestiality of which They (upon Them be blessings and peace) are the already-always divine Actors, for “There is no god but He, all things perish but His face” (28:88) and “We are the Face of God” (ḥadīth).
The Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) will then strike their hands on parts of the Prophet (upon Him be peace); that is, the Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) will unfold as a singularity of the theophanic Self-Disclosure of the Pre-Eternal Muḥammadan Light of which They (upon Them be blessings and peace) constitute a Unity and a singular Pleroma; and the true believers will then strike their hands upon the Infallibles (upon Them be blessings and peace) and become one with this Pleroma themselves, for “soon shall We show them our signs in the horizons and in themselves until it be manifest to them that it is the Real Truth” (41:53). This Pleroma as the Singularity and Unicity of the Pre-Eternal Light is the Revelation of the One Manifest God within the worlds of Jabarūt and Lahūt, for “He God is One. God is Everlasting. Neither begotten nor begetting, and nothing is like unto Him” (112).
And God knows best, for no power and no strength is there save in God, the High, the Mighty!
